View Full Version : Maya 2012 giving error application file has stopped working

Well , I installed maya 2012 x86 on my windows 7 x86 32 bit, but since I have installed I am getting error saying Maya Application has stopped working, I tried google search and found people who had similar problem (http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Installation-Licensing/Autodesk-Maya-2011-and-quot-Maya-application-has-stopped-working/td-p/2808720), but even following it It seems the problem is not going.

So now I am looking towards getting service pack 2 (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=18428455&linkID=9242259) for 2012

but I am not sure if the license will work that was supposed to be for maya 2012 without any service pack,

It will work. Service packs are free- typically complete installs and you have to remove the previous version first.

What are you doing when this error occurs? It could be as simple as the application exceeding the memory limitations for a 32-bit operating system. The applications can access a maximum of 2 GB of memory even if the system has more than that. If the Maya service pack is free for you I'd give it a shot but if not I'd try a 64-bit operating system before paying for anything else. By the way, you can use the same product key to install a 64-bit version of Windows 7 if you can get a hold of the 64-bit install disc.
