Booyah! About time! C'mon, how long does it take to write an interface that alters your XF86Config file and tweaks the gamma a bit?

As long as it puts in the option to turn off that damned spalsh screen on XStart I'm sure a lot of newbies will be happy.

It does not include that option but for now you can edit you XF86Config file and add the following

Option "NoLogo" "1"

here's the description:
Option "NoLogo" "Boolean"
Disable drawing of the NVIDIA logo splash screen at X startup.

Default: the logo is drawn.

I actually like having the logo drawn. It gives me that extra bit of reassurance that the driver loaded and is working properly.

My reassurance is that I change driver from "nv" to "nvidia" and XFree86 doesn't instantly bail out. I've also got the options in to turn the splash screen off and the hardware cursor shadow on but I think nVidia could get away from the idea that everyone needs to be reminded what video card they have everytime they log in ('cause I didn't need to know to download the right driver or anything of course).

Unfortunatly nvidia only included that utility in the 4620 + 4660 beta drivers. If you can still find this driver you can just copy the utility to your /usr/bin folder an use it with the newer drivers.

It was called "nvidia-settings".

You can download the older drivers here:
