Sedah,
You should check out the bakeCloth script on High end. I used it for a project I'm working on, and it pretty much saved me. My workflow became much more controlled. My workflow is a linear progression from the inside out. I Simulate the pants till I like em, then bake, and use that object as a collision for the shirt and jacket. It makes the simulation run faster, and You only have one solver and property in the scene at a time. And there are no Render issues, cause it's a straight poly. Let me know if that'll work for you. --and I'd like to know more about what youre working on, cause cloth is like the bastard plug in nobody talks about.
oh, that script still works in 4.x

cool for the script all check that and give you news about that
the script bakecloth l never download it because it says this is for maya 3 l thinkj but if you said that works on 4 that will be great for me
and l use the cloth for a character l am working on for my demo real l got 2 pieces of cloth on him
l got very good result with cloth simulation
more to come......

Have you checked the help files?
There is a chapter on using multiple solvers.

I've tried the bakeCloth script with exellent results! It creates a blendshape that is really easily tweaked too. You can keyframe it, skin it and remodel it. Superb!

Word Up Graf, That script opens up the cloth alot. Stephen, I'm almost completely positive that cloth is self aware. I have not had to set up collisions on 2 seperate solvers. But- I haven't done alot of importing and exporting of solvers..
I'm sure somebody around here has... Oh, Does anyone have any Resources on Different cloth workflows, or maybe some kind of tutorial beyond a basic setup? the maya docs are kinda weak.
