Hi, I will try to explain my work, excuse my english.

In the first sketch i don’t have idea very clear for the alien setting, but it served me as base to mature the idea. After making the sketch for the study of surface of the planet, I felt that had given with what was looking for. The general design has baptized him as "planet beta 101" and I believe that it is my last sketch that I make in this moment. While adding elements to the scene I will place their respective sketches.

The landscape is compound for a strange transparent surface that include to all around protuberances and organic thing, all these elements are solid as rocks, (although it seems the opposite). This surface seems to be floating on some giant structures and this condition perceibe for all the planet. neither it seems to have some support that sustains it and every so often he moves as the beat of the heart, that makes think that it is alive.

These structures that are low the surface is prolonged until the infinite, it doesn't seem to have end, what causes a terrifying sensation of vertigo. Definitively something lives or he lived in those structures, although during the time that I take traveling the planet I have not seen to any form of life. What intrigues me is that I don't see any connection between the surface and the inferior structures to exception of kind of a navel that generates energy of brilliant colors, on this navel this rotating a mass of cosmic powder, it seems a galaxy miniature, although I am not sure, while more I come closer to that object, more increased the beats in the surface.

Definitively is something live here, will it be that the complete planet that get own life? or it comes from the interior of the gigantic structures. because I don't think to stay to
discover it........

The history is my personal vision of the description of the planet for an astronaut and because I find more fun, but I believe that the image be able to interpret in many ways. Better I don't continue writing and I begin to model the landscape.

Until the next one, greetings and luck for all the participant.

P.D. The materials that are shown in the images are not definitive and they can change in any moment.

hey, its nice what u have here, as you told me before, and for your concepts, i can see that maybe you are looking for that "electron microscope" look, its very nice... but i havent seen anywhere that look with colors.. i mean, if you can combine this look, with color aporppiate for an eviroment u can do something really nice!

good luck!

Hi, I can already show you some advances of the modeling, like they can see you has changed the concept of the image of the sketch and I believe that this is unavoidable. You criticize them they are welcome.

Here this the mesh of the surface, in the image put the complementary squares for if somebody interests.

Here the splines mesh transformed them into polygons and court the areas of interest for my composition.

This is the mesh that will cover the holes that you cuts in the surface.

These are some elements that leave the organic surface and they are introduced in the last mesh that I showed previously.

This is a test of the materials for the objects that I have modeled. I didn't plan to work the textures so early, but to be such a complex image, I saw the necessity to make it, to check the harmony among the MODELING.

Here this the composition of the surface, obviously they lack the main objects of the scene, since this is alone the background scenario. The blue rectangles that are come in the image are to prove the transparency of the mesh and in your place the alien's structures would go. In these moments I am working a definitive version of the texture for the green mesh, when you has it to 100% you lists you I will show them.

Hi, here I show the last upgrade that I have carried the surface of the planet. I have changed the original concept for a night and more dismal scene, also lack some retouches in the materials and the columns of smoke, but for now I leave this way. The blue rectangles that are under the grills, will be substituted by the aliens structures that are those that I will begin to work. The next images that upload will be of those structures and of course any comment is welcome.

Buenos tardes Capitan Gaab. This is Angel calling, can you read me?
(Transmission in progress:) I Like your concept very much, great and creative thinking and a great interpretation of the terms and rules, and its very original.

I think the lighteffect (ring of energy) has to be finer, I liked the filigrane ring in the spectralcolors of your concept very much, gives it something mystic. The smoke looks undefined, its also unclear what causes it and where it comes from. A general line for effects is to use them on small Number and just where the really make sense. But who really gives something about effect-drafts when you're still modeling...

I love splines and surface tools too... :wip:

The grill is absolutely cool, also the idea with the transparent and pulsing ground.

The "bones or bugleggs" things are great and I have a suggestion. scale down the thickness of the grills that "overcut/intersect" them from topview and connect the transparent surface with this parts. Yhe result will be something like "bat- or Dragonflywings" and would fluently and logic bring the two surfaces together in a nice way.

I like the glassy rocks in your concept2, they have nice dynamic shapes and give some very ghostlike impression.

In general a thread with refreshing innovative ideas based on cool and well thought concepts. I will be round to see what you make of them, so keep the updates coming! Best luck, have fun and be inspired, and make me go wow! :buttrock: (Angel out, end of transmission...)

Thank you Ángel, I like that you like concepts, at least I know that at that level I go well. :lightbulb

I clarify you several things, All the lighteffect and glow in the materials they are not finished, I put them to capture the ideas that I have in my head, but at all it is definitive, The original concept of the transparent surface was me difficult to capture it in 3d studio max, since gave me a sensation of lack of volume and when trying to give him volume eclipse the aliens structures, for that reason I decided to make a combination between opaque and transparent surfaces, the idea of making a membrane that connects the grill with the bones is completely been worth and in fact I have made some tests.

When did you mention that of the dragon wings gives me a lot of laugh, are the bones since of wings of bats, do I believe that I was very evident, truth? :p

In general I lack a lot and I have left very little time, neither helps me my computer, it is very old: Pentium3 1ghz, 368ram, Gforce 4 64megs

I wait the computer tolerated until it finishes the image of the competition, the only thing helps me it is the x-ref, but in times of render it is a nightmare, and that I have not made the setup of the lights.

Better I don't continue complaining or I go to fill the post of my tear.

Tthank you for your valuable advice and the best luck you

:wavey: any update? Love get out of your good old p3... besides, til a few weeks ago I had to work on a p2 750 on 128mb ram, after my 2.2 went over the jordan after only 6 month, so I can feel with you!
Better a tool under your level than havin' no creativety skills, you don't learn to work efficient on a fast computer anyways, a slow machine makes you think about every step and that's what makes you fast as hell when you get the one you deserve!
May your computer be with you 'til the glory end!!! http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0903/waffen/violent-smiley-006.gif

Greetz, best luck and always keep on rockin'!:buttrock:
