View Full Version : looking for specific inbuilt basic icons from maya

Hi
I am building an app(tool) for maya 2011 onwards that utilizes some basic icons like new, file open , file save, folder open ,

is their way I can borrow from maya icons already there so I do not have to provide them with my python script or I would have to include the image icons separately other than the python script(that creates maya GUI tool)

yeah course. In the image path, just set it to correspond with the image name maya uses (look in the shelf editor options, you can see icon paths there.)

you don't need paths for internal icons, just use the base name. for example "polycube.xpm"
window;
columnLayout;
symbolButton -i "polyCube.xpm";
symbolButton -i "moveNormal.xpm";
symbolButton -i "posTurbulence.xpm";
showWindow;
if you use ".xpm" rather than .png or .bmp it should work on any version of Maya (assuming that version contains the given icon!) and on 2011+ using .xpm still results in the transparent png version.
