it's very fun looking. keep it and put it aside, look back at it 2 years from now and see how youve grown! the begining steps are always the most important.

I agree whole-heartedly with Blankslate.

My biggest suggestion would be to try exercises that will push your drawings away from symbolism and more towards realism (not that symbolism is bad at all). It's more a brain/eye thing than a technique, and takes a while getting used to. An excellent book on the topic is "The Natural Way to Draw". I highly recommend it for any artist wanting to improve their drawings ( at ANY skill level). Read read read draw draw draw!

Best of luck!

ps - think i'll go do some of those exercises myself right now ;)

natural way is a great book, and squirrelz adivce is right on the button.

other good books along similar thought trains:

"drawing on the right side of the brain"
"the artists way"

also, never underestimate the power of inspiration.

buy books about your favorite art work, concept work, cartoons whatever and expose yourself over and over again to those artists. you'll learn a lot from your own aspirations and goals.
(and eventually, your own personal style will begin to show up too)
