this is not possible with TP.
only MoGraph (Shader Effector).

As far as i know this is sadly not possible out of the box. I know that the plugin stormtracer can sample the surface color. Dpit Effex has also an option to do this.
Cheers

oh yes, you´re right, Stromtracer can do this.
but as i remeber with a very tweaky workaround...not so easy to remember...
maybe google for it.

The only module inside C4D which can sample a texture or surface is Hair,
can you upload a simplified version of what you are trying to achieve?
Maybe there's a workaround possible :-)

Thanks guys!
I just wanna let a surface emitting particles with it's color.
MoGraph can only generates particles once, it's not suitable for my situation.
I did know hair can inherit the surface color, but how to let hair emit from surface?
Another question, is Storm Tracer still alive?
I can hardly find the information even from it's website.

X-Particles can do this - the particle can pick up the colour from any channel (with one or two exceptions) and will do so with bitmaps or with most shaders.

If you use MoGraph in conjunction with TP, this can work, though.
But that depends as how your scene is set up.

I tried x-particles, but still did not find the way to inherit the color, any tips?

Oh, my bad!
The latest release of x-particles can do this. Thanx you all again!
