Can anyone tell me if hair in Final fantasy 10 was nurbs or polys?
Is there a tutorial close to that style?

polys of course, I think t's not more than a few planes with alpha textures for most characters...

Any good tuts on alpha texturing? i havnt been able to figure it out i use max 5

the hair in the ps2 FF games are simple alpha polygon planes with damn good textures.

This Digital Hair tutorial (http://www.menithings.com/manual/Tilt_Hair_01.php?action=how) by Aristomenis Tsirbas (of Menithings (http://www.menithings.com/) fame) shows one method of creating hair that's close to what Square used for their in-game Final Fantasy polygon hair. The tutorial uses Lightwave 6, but the method can be applied in any package.

so im using maya and love the final fantasy style hairdo and would like to use them on my characters are there any maya specific tutorials for creating hair this way i know you said alpha poly planes with good textures but are there any existing tutorials to create these from the planes to the textures? for hi res models?

Thanx everyone. I should have been more specific. I meant the cut scenes but the hair tut was more than welcome. I haven't found any maya specific tut,yet, still looking gunslingerblack.
