hey all,
been doing some organic modelling lately, and i'm consistently coming across problems where by splitting polys to create edgeloops and stuff, i am creating 3 and 5 sided polygons in the process. i guess it's not a huge deal but i would like to get rid of them, and every which way i attempt to delete edges and cut new ones to get rid of the 3's and 5's i end up just creating more of them (in different places). my question is, does anyone have any good methods for removing 3 and 5 sided polys without creating more? i know it's not rocket science, it's just eluding me.

thanks a bunch

I use merge verts, with a really high setting, and just select the verts that I want to combine.

The other one I do, is select all the 5 (or more) sided polys, and triangulate then quadrangulate them. Maya does a pretty good job at this, as long as you only select the problem faces, and not the whole object.
