I'm sure someone has ran into this problem in Maya.

If you do a smooth bind to a Nurbs plane to some joints then parent the joints to another node, a double transformation will occur on the skinned object. What am I doing wrong?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure before you bind it that you delete your DAG objects and have a clean scene. I had a simliar problem with a double rotation with the hi-res mesh rotating more than the low res after it being CPSed... but yea delete dags and clear history before binding and then try it... it may work

What exactly is happening when you encounter the double transforms? Are you translating/rotating the parent object? Are you translating/rotating the joints?

I'm assuming you are transforming the parent object, and that is what is causing the double transforms for you. I can't really re-create your problem on my end doing the things you explain, but I would still suggest maybe trying to use a parent constraint on the joint to the parent node if nothing else works.

Hi,

my $0.02:

Make sure that the surface and the joints does not share a common parent which you move around.

Cheers!

I was rotating the joints.. no other controls or parented objects. It looks like the reason was that I didnt delete my dag objects and delete my history of the low mesh before cpsing it.. after doing that and cleaning up my scene it worked without a problem... thanks though

Right click on the model, go to INPUTS then ALL INPUTS and then reorder the inputs by middle mouse dragging the inputs down.
