View Full Version : poly edge-split script anywhere?
BCSimpson 06-14-2002, 03:42 PM There is a simple script in Maya that I use that lets you select an edge and split not just that edge but every edge that is connected adjacent to it...make sense? I think I might have to post some images from Maya to be more clear, but if you know what I'm talking about would you be so kind as to tell me where I can get something like it for 3dStudio Max?
Thanks!

Emmm...post a pic, please. If a script for it doesn't already exist, one can be written;)
Have you tried Meshtools (http://www.s21net.com/meshtools/) and/or CSPolyTools (http://www.3dluvr.com/subagio/scripts.html) ?
Between them they have a great deal number of edge/face level selection/manipulation features.
Definitely give them a look (if you haven't already)

Yes I have tried the tools you are refering to and either I'm not using them correctly or the same objective isn't possible with them - I'm refreshing up my Max skill for a potential job and I'm really rusty with the modeling workflow with Max - just trying to find ways of mimicing my techniques from Maya

You can do this in Meshtools 2.5, but with two buttons/keystrokes rather than one. First, hit "select edge ring", and then hit "connect".

You need divx for the video.

Have the Divx codec, and a Divx player, neither would play it when I went to that site a couple of weeks ago, anyway, the script does a great job, don't need a video to know that!
