Hi all,

Am thinking of getting a ThinkPad T430s

It comes in a couple of options but I want the Nivida option so seems I can only get that with the i5 CPU.
Specs am thinking of are

i5-3320m

up to 16GB ram

NVIDIA Optimus Graphics (NVS 5200M, 1GB), Intel Core i5-3210M Processor (3M Cache, up to 3.10GHz)

I use 3ds max mainly but need it for all the usual stuff too like video editing, comping, photoshop etc.

Is anybody using or have used this machine for 3d creative work?

Any advice be great,

Thanks

Les

The T430s is the more power efficient (slower) and more expensive cousin to the T430. If you're concerned about performance just get the T430 instead and save some bucks.

I bought a T420 when they first came out because I was looking for something relatively small, general purpose use, computer graphics once in a while. The size is nice and it has served me well but it is not a powerful machine.

Sometimes I regret not getting the T520 instead since it had quad core processor options instead of just dual core (like the T420 and T430). By going with the T530 you could get a quad core processor and a 1080P resolution display (they call it FHD).

If you do go with the T430 be sure to get the higher resolution display option (HD+). I can't imagine trying to work on stuff with 1366x768 resolution screen.
