View Full Version : How do I create texture ref object after animating

I worked on an animation for a class, but I never had time to texture my models. I was told that I could make a texture reference object of my characters and texture them after the fact, but I am a bit confused on how to do it. Anyone out there know how to set that up?

It's simple, goto any frame which you think easier to texture the model, texture it and hit create texture reference object.

What maya do, it will duplicate your model, rename it and template it. Then it doesn't matter where your object goes, when it's rendering it will always look at the reference object for texturing. Unless you change the reference (either transform or shape) it will always be the same as how you texture it on the frame you create the reference object.

Maya just add a connection between shapes, message from reference object shape, to referenceObject in the actual model.
