I use Ligthwave and am thinking of getting Messiah Animate. Can I get some opinions on it please. How is the workflow between Lightwave and Messiah? Any thought welcome. Thanks.

There is an Animate demo you can download and try it out first hand.

You know LW 8 is coming out anytime now - right? ;)

If you come from a LW background then you'll find the transition easier than if you were coming from another package, since messiah started off as a plugin for LW. You're already used to things like the HPB paradigm - that really throws some people completely for a loop for whatever reason. It has a similar feel but different - it's extremely fast. As far as the workflow, it's really nice. Not quite as good as being in one app, but it's fairly seamless if you're working on an embedded scene. Try out the demo and have a look see.:)

Yeah, it really, really throws me, but I'm getting used to it. I just wish there were the option for a straightforward xyz gizmo which served all translation, rotation, and scale. When max 5 introduced the semi-Maya copy of rotation gizmo with all those extra lines, it threw me. I don't need more lines in the viewport. I can imagine the rotation arcs, etc. etc.

Anything which will make it easier to to see the model or animation is fine by me. In messiah, the edit sphere clutters up things so much.

I guess, being a private pilot, the heading, pitch and bank come very naturally for me - but if you're from a pure CAD-like background it might not be.

Did you know you can hide the edit spheres by pressing "ESC" and then use the keyboard shortcuts to select which axes you want to manipulate?:)

You should post that in the sticky Tips and Tricks thread.

I can't really take credit for it - I read about it a month ago here:
