Speed Modelling 14 - 08-25-2012 to 09-01-2012
Speed Modelling 14
Welcome to the new speed modelling, this time we are doing it more simplified with a set time limit for each of the five items.
Try to finish each model in one hour, but feel also free to add extra time if needed. It's all about learning and improving.
Items - Theme: Hotel Reception
Key with hotel-like-key chain
plant or/and sweets-bowl for the reception desk
folded maps and pamphlets
This one became rather speedy, better practise than not I guess.... :)
hotel key, 18 minutes

I like it! Nice feel and look about it.... Good work.

I did it all at once. Was with placement and as seen below about 5 hours with interruptions. I wanted to do it stylized, not too realistic.

Thanks, actually it's the motel-reception I am working part time

Ok, here goes! Think this is my first ever entry on this board for anything.
Actually also working on completing the entire Reception Area of a Hotel. Bit by bit. Here is the Reception Desk. Time spent on the Desk was between 30-40 minutes with pauses and thinking periods. (screen grabs)
After seeing Monica's, have to get back on the other items.
PS. Boy, really had to shrink down the pic size and quality to up here.... only up to 96kb in size?

Nice, and welcome! Hope you like the concept and attending more often ;)
your reception desk looks more like a first class Hotel, nice!
I just recognized that I missed the drawers underneath :banghead:

I am a high school teacher and we offer a 3D class at our school. I am giving these challenges to any of my students who want to do some additional work and get some additional practice. Thanks so much for offering a place for them to showcase their work. They were over the 90 minute time frame, but they did an excellent job creating a lot of models fairly quickly. We don't have much class time and they worked very hard. These are a little low resolution, but I still think you can see what they have done. Hopefully we'll have more of these to post as the year goes on.
Ok I am doing the next session on Saturday as I have some items saved, don't know where Ben went?..

ok, before the day is over! Worked on a couple of things to add to the Recepton Desk, mainly minor, but the Ringer, I must say I like. Modelled, in around an hour til I was happy with it. Need to do some better detailing at another time. Did not have the time to do all that I wanted to the scene.
Putting the larger pics up on Picpaste.
The Reception Ringer is a Screenshot from Lightwaves Viewport Renderer.

I really like that Ringer and the rendering of it! You did a great job!

But that is not an actual Render (though looks like it). Is just a screen grab from Lightwaves Viewport (in VPR Mode).

it is nice to know that now more people will participate - please show them cgtalk so they can also see our models and talk to us if wanted and needed. It's all about learning!
