CGTalk - dlp or lcd ips

I'm using a built in hd3000 radeon and a 37"lcd on my desktop. The lcd is 720p and I need more resolution.

I can get a 73" 1080p dlp (used from a friend) for the same amount of money a 22" 1080p dell multitouch ips will cost ($400). I'm leaning towards the dlp.

Are there any particular drawbacks of using a dlp for 3d & vfx if its color calibrated? What would you go with?

Using a 73" display for a workstation seems like a huge waste of space. The space aside unless the DLP is specifically a large format display it will probably not be possible to calibrate. Modern televisions have dynamic brightness and image processing which immediately throws off any calibration.

thanks for the reply, I'm getting the dlp but also tring to get a Dell UltraSharp 30"
