View Full Version : Maya square texture limitation

Is maya limited to square texture (512 by 512) or can it take traingle texture (512 by 128)...if so how.

you can take any size you want, just choose your texture file you wanna map on the surface. actually the best is to choose a quadratic one, but you're not limitated

yeah...you can use any size, but it will stretch it back to square in your UV window.

every texture node has a placement node connected to it. there you can scale and translate your texture to fit it to your needs.
just go to the hypershade, select your object with the material apllied, and click the graph material on selected button in the hypershade. behind the texture file node is a placement node connected to it.

I tried all the option in 2d place texture option, but the uv editor screen remains square with a blank space. I have to transfer the UV to 3Dmax, and what I am worried about getting a messed up UV. If you done this, and the blank space is ok...then thanks.

tried that too and it works. just try out the repeat UV, this gave me the result. i tried with a 1024x512 map and just set the repeat V to 0.5 thats it.

Remember the 8200 x 8200 pixel limitation... ;)
