Hey,

Wondering if anyone could give me any advice on buying a new pc,I'm a Maya user and basically need a pc that can get some very good render times and also need it to be able to run games really well (would like it to run cryengine3 at max)will be using it for gaming/making games, modelling and rendering.

As far as computers go all the cpu/gpu numbers are pretty lost me to be honest and I have no idea where to start,I'm willing to invest a fair bit of cash to get something that will last a good few years but not confident building it myself.

can anyone recommend where to start or any ideally uk based sites and what sort of price I would be looking at?

thanks

Hi, I'm in a similar boat as you and need a new PC for Maya animation/Adobe suite.

I'm not the best person to ask technically what to get but in terms of where to get I was looking at this site as it lets you configure the PC to your own specifiactions (I put in Intel 3770k CPU, GeForce GTX 560ti GPU and 16 GB Ram - also whacked in a 120gb ssd as a boot drive as that is meant to help boot times and software start-ups):

Not sure if anyone here has used them and can reccommend?

other than that I was looking at a Dell XPS8500 but I'm guessing a custom built PC would be better value?

I checked out pcspecialist.com and got some advice on the forums there that seems good, they have a similar setup for putting together the parts.I did also read that Nvidia are better cards for Maya and more compatible.
