Guys i need your suggestions. I am looking forward to buy a slim, lightweight and a decent performance laptop. Its going to be mainly for client presentations and some small 3D or 2D work. Applications i will be using Photoshop, Max etc.

I am not looking for a highend laptop because i already have a pretty nice desktop workstation for my 3D work. So i selected Apple Macbook Pro 13'' & Lenovo Ultrabook 400 14''. Now i am confused between two of them. U400 is pretty newly launched so i cannot say about its performance.

Apple MacBook Pro 13''

2.5GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz) with 3MB L3 cache
4GB of 1600MHz DDR3 memory
500GB 5400-rpm hard drive
Intel HD Graphics 4000
Up to 7 hours
720p FaceTime HD camera
Stereo speakers with subwoofer
Full-size backlit keyboard

Lenovo U400 14''

2nd Generation i7 2620M (2.70GHz 1333MHz 4MB)
8.0GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM 1333 MHz
500GB 7200 rpm
AMD Radeon HD 6470M 1GB
Up to 7 hrs
1.3M integrated web camera (720p HD)
2.0 speakers (2x1W)
Integrated DVD reader/writer

What do you guys suggest ? If you have any other options, kindly recommend.

Cheers,
Bharat

don't buy a MacBook unless you get one with a discrete graphics card (AMD or Nvidia). That Intel isn't good for 3D apps.

They are giving away NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 512MB/1GB of GDDR5 memory only with 15'' inch. But it comes with a little higher price. I don't want to spend that much. So should i opt for the Lenovo U400 ?

The lenovo have better specs except for the display. Except that it has very impressive specs for such a low price.

Macbook pro = lower specs, no GPU, but nice display.

Lenovo = good specs, more adapted to your 3D needs, cheaper, but less cool for your presentation.

I say, go see the lenovo in store. Maybe the screen is not so bad after all.

Did you check at Dell offering? You can have the 14z with a AMD Radeon HD7570M, or the 15z with anything you want. Reviews of the 15z are very good and with the 1080p option you get a high quality screen.

Thanks earwax69, i too have been thinking about Lenovo. I need to go to their store and check out the ultrabook myself. Actually i am not considering about Dell lately because first their service support is not available in my city, plus i have friends who told me about issues with the Dell machine. Also somewhat higher in price.
