View Full Version : Open GL, driver fail
Hi all, hope you all can help us out. I'v just installed service pack 2 for Windows 2000, and now when I open up max the open gl driver has failed and it tells me to switch to HEIDI or Direct 3D, so I open up max, I go to preference to select Direct 3D close max open max every things fine, I then go and reselect openGL close max try to open max, openGL failed message again. This happend before for no aparent reason so I just put the Windows 2000 disc in and did a fix up whitch did the trick (BUT) if I do this I have to reinstall the Windows 2000 service pack 2 again AAARRRGGG! and I'm back to square one, BTW I have had max going in open gl with the service pack 2 installed before, although the service pack was installed before max { Oh no I can almost here myself saying it}. Please dont tell me I have to reinstall Max again,It was a pain in the ass the first time. BTW my other apps seam to run ok in open GL, and I have reinstalled my graphics driver v(28.32). Please is there a simple fix for this?, thanks. also Max wont open up while I'm on the net now, dont know what that has to do with openGL drivers but hay?.

Since you've already reinstalled your vid drivers the next thing to try would be to delete your 3dsmax.ini and oglgfx.ini files. They'll rebuild on the next restart, but you'll lose any changes to the UI you've made, so save it.
To get rid of showing the Tri's you customize driver (under viewports) and turn off "Show triangle strips"
Hopefully that works.
Thanks mate, I'll give it a go

Also, for some cards/drivers the "Use Wireframe Faces" can also show the hidden triangle edges.
