View Full Version : Dots Shader Plugin
mpc823_99 11-26-2003, 03:45 AM Just wanted to let people know that I just uploaded a Dots shader plugin for messiah:studio. You can find it here (http://danielstewart1.home.comcast.net/plugins.htm). It supports your basic array of dots (spheres), with the ability to set the size, spacing, smoothing, .... Here's a quick sample

You can get some other interesting results by linking other textures to it, like this

I've also updated my Darktree textures plugin as of 11/17/03. It supports all the channels of a Darktree. Still in beta and I hope to improve upon it when some updates to the API become available. You can find it at the same location as above.

Thanks Daniel - I have DarkTree 2.5 - so, the plugin connection will really help with Messiah:Studio.

I'm also an owner of Darktree 2.5 and for someone that have used a shader tool such as that the current way of building shaders in Messiah comes as a shock. In this area Messiah feels more as a 10 year old application than a new one. Heck, even $300 applications have better tools for shader building ;). As I understand it there will be more develoment in this area but as it is, you plugin is a like a gift from the gods ;)

? I don't know what apps *you're* using.
In any case, making broad general statements like that isn't going to get you the app you want. If you're new to the messiah culture, when you find and error or a limitation just post any useful info that you can find to help us address the problem/plan enhancements. The users listen. We listen. And we act.
So, exactly what difficulties are you having with the shaderflow? Can you post a few examples?
Any info you can provide would be much appreciated.

The Shader Flow in Messiah reminds me a lot of the one in XSI - and that's a good thing. Requires a bit more forethought but exceptionally powerful.
