Reel FX Creative Studios in Dallas, TX is looking for a CG Technical Assistant. This is basically a Jr. Technical Director position with a heavy focus on management of the 200 CPU Render Farm and Pipeline development assistance.

If you have a reel, great. Submit it. A reel isn't really required. However, this is a highly technical position and code samples (especially MEL) and screen captures of scripts/software you've written will be more helpful in evaluating your application.



Here's a description of the position:



Associates or Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Maya & MEL Scripting experience required.

Programming/Scripting Experience: Java or C++, Perl.

Experience with Red Hat Linux and Windows OS.

Strong technical problem solving skills with an eye for aesthetics.

Ability to pick up new scripting languages on-the-fly to write tools for a given task.

Familiarity with film and post-production and/or computer graphics techniques highly desired.



This is a technical position. Manage & monitor renders to ensure production deadlines are met. Launch renders and assist Studio Technical Director in improving and developing tools to reduce render times and improve render farm functionality. Monitors renders to catch problems and visual errors. Responsible for reporting problems to digital artists and TDs and working to find a solution. Works with TDs and supervisors to ensure optimum render resource utilization. Reports any machine problems to Systems Engineer and/or Studio Technical Director that can hinder the completion of renders. Assists Studio Technical Director in developing and implementing pipeline procedures and protocol via basic rigging, modeling, minor animation tasks, and documenting/communicating "best practice" methodologies to the studio staff. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact with diverse personalities. Strong time management skills; Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Proven ability to work autonomously and in team settings.
