Hi fellas.
Here is my last character... One cool cat.
I decided to change the name of the thread, sorry for that...
The first thing to show is the first portrait i did with the guy. Maya+Photoshop+painter.
please read the bio if you think his gun is weird or his teeth too white ;)

then, the rendered mesh...
http://www.e338.com/forums/K_scanlineR_head.jpg
and the story (so far)
The story of Klaus...
Klaus was born in Germany in 1840, and left for South Springs in 1875. There, he shall meet Josiah Gordon "Doc" Scurlock.
Doc was known as a close friend of Henry "Billy The Kid" Mc Carty.
His missing teeth were the result of a shootout over a card game: the bullet took out Doc's teeth and came out of his neck.
Scurlock, surprised to be alive (but highly damaged), created his own medicine by mixing cocaine, caffeine and soda, to put the pain away.
This was really efficient, and he thought he had there some groovy stuff for potential business.
And let me introduce you Klaus.
During his escape from Chisum's headquarters, on Pecos River (near present day Roswell), Doc met Klaus for the first time.
Klaus got his first job at the Chisum's ranch. Chisum sent him after Doc, who left the ranch with 2 horses and 2 saddles. As he finally reached Doc's campfire, Klaus couldn't kill the man, and they become close friends (Chisum was a jackass who didn't pay Doc, and refused to let him go).
Then, Klaus tasted Doc's cocktail for the first time, and become an addict as he realised he wasn't tired after two days ridding his horse (was the horse drinking the same stuff? Hell i don't know).
The two men have a break and decide to build their business. They create about 50 bottles of the mixture (cocaine ain't really classified in medicines, but...) and our chemical brothers moves to Jicarilla Mountains. There, they would find a plenty of pitfaces, dead tired. Claiming for this kinda miracle they got in their bottles. At least that's what they hoped.
They called it "e338"; Doc thinks it's kinda scientific but cool. Klaus still wonders why.
Klaus is gonna sell more and more of these bottles. During the demonstrations, he preached as good as David Eugene Edward. But each time he had to drink some e338 to put the crowd's mind at ease.
"It ain't no damn poison brothers and sisters, it is science ". And also drug shall i say, as he slowly become an animal.
People were scared by the name, too abstract, like an administrative code or something. Klaus was shouting
"Nein, it's a product for ze massise"and they decided to add "product for the masses" on the back of the label.
Klaus don't sleep, don't eat (or barely, to please his hosts) due to the powerfull effects of the ... so called soda.
After six months, he was totally paranoid, and as he wasn't a good gunfighter, he started thinking about a dedicated weapon.
His brain was fast as a horse and the man soon had a gun up to his ambition. A gun which was re-invented almost 50 years later.
He had the idea by wondering to himself "a new gun, you foolish and poor lost soul, it's like reinventing the wheel !", and that's what he did.
The first machine-gun...
What we have now is a werewolf with the arming of a squad.
To be followed...
Hope you'll enjoy ;)

what an amazing character. I really like everything (model, texture, lighting).
One comment... His teeth are too clean IMO, they should be as dirty as his skin.
A really brilliant model. And a good work with the textures. But if you allow it to me, I believe that you should illuminate it in a way but somber, with but it contrasts. I believe that you would get this way the character to be but believable besides that would accentuate his sanguinary personality. And maybe to put a bottom would make him but justice to the pattern that this very worked one.
And, did machine guns exist "Thompsom" by the way, in that time?
Anyway it is an excellent work of modeling and texturing.

Wow, I like the style of the first image, I though it was completely 2D at first.
The only thing that bugs me is the gun, it looks like some sort of custom made winchester/thompson grip/streetsweeper shotgun. Of course, maybe that's what it is... if so, good job! ;)

That looks great. Only problem i have is the way he's holding to gun, seems strange.

Damn damn DAMN this is cool! You really have a habit of getting on the front page, man - I've put this one there now!
I love the style of this guy, and I have very little to crit. Actually the only things that really kinda stick out for me is the fact that the skin looks a tad powdery (although that might have been intentional), and his grip on the gun seems somewhat unnatural.
Great job on the modelling, especially the clothing. Some of the textures seem a teeny bit oversaturated and overwhelming, but that's really a personal preference :)
Great stuff, as always

Dude excellent job! I'm not a very big fan of the colours on the skin in his first image but that's me, and who am I ;) Indeed the teeth are a little too white I think. However the clothes are stunning.
top notch

simply awessome ..

thanks.
read the bio, my dear fellas. You'll have all the answers.
Lets say that drinking a really acid potion everyday makes brighter teeth than usual.
Explanations on the gun, on everything. A bit long but fun too.
hell. frontpage. Thanks.

looks great, expecialy the untextured render, you can realy see the excelent modeling in it (thats what I appriciate since thats what I know best myself  )
what bugs me the most is the gun, first of all when I think of a gun like that my mind goes to Al Capone or someone during his time, not a cowboy, rather replace it with a winchester or something, or just a simple pistol. Second is the texturing on the gun compared to the guy, both are great but they dont mix well, you see the shiny mint continued gun compared to the guy who looks like he doesnt take a bath more than once every 5 years and never sleeps inside.

its a scary model. Something that sticks to the dark. After all that e338, he must hate the light.... :)

i like the style, fresh..

one problem thou...his arms too short. you should extend them past his crouch. otherwise he looks like he's got midget arms.

It is perhaps because your internet cache is full. Empty it and that should work fine
@e338 ==> your justification on the cleanliness of teeth is consistent with the character's bio, I did not look at the detail of the mixture (cafeine+soda+cocaine). Many congratulations again.

This is great work, I very much like the style. Reminiscent of the great Simon Bisley; maybe you could see your way to doing a bit of a "Biz" style environment for him, and perhaps a more dynamic pose, or a change in angle/composition? There's absolutely nothing wrong with the model and texturing though.
Excellent
A
e338 = Coca Cola?
"e338" is just Phosphoric Acid.
no Matt!
e338 is me.
What you'll see in the next part of the story, is the fall of Klaus, and how Dr John S.Pemberton would take the benefits of Doc's(Gordon) drink.
e338 became the name of phosphoric acid many years after, in memory of Doc's invention. Life ain't always fair...
The pose is not definitive, i just thought it was better than the Tpose, that's all. The picture here is the first portrait. The rest is a part of the classical "behind the scene" stuff. And the subject is illustrations as i don't intend to animate him soon. So there will be at least about 10 more illustrations on Klaus.
What have you got guys, with the gun? Yeah, i know it was invented many years after. And then? It's in the bio. Let there be freedom. A classical Colt, a winchester? bah... not interresting. We have been given to see so many cowboys till' now. This one is an alternative. He's not a hero. He's not a gunfighter (such as Billy the kid), he's not a sheriff, ...
But he will be a mass murderer in his last days, and also a firecracker, a human bomb, a beast, Hulk, the full Xmen team in his boots, ...
fews mo'answers and comments:
His arms ain't too short, but his legs are too long. this character is based on classical measures. Then with clothes and stuff, i decided to change some proportions (head, a bit bigger), and lower down the balls, create some "baggy"like pants, and add about 10 inches to his legs. His Feet are really big too.
Bimo: Clint was an obvious basis for a cowboy, one of the best, ever. So i took pictures from PaleRider, and Unforgiven, and started modelling. Then, i ran away from the master, to play Frankenstein...

I'm blown away by your cowboy. The textures, the bloody modeling. Dammmmmmn. Did you use drawings as a template in maya? Did you do use conceptual art? Can ou show a little of the processes? Do you have a web site?
Holy! that's one sweet piece of work. Are the more Characters? Wow.

This is good work man! I like the cowboy theme! To me it feels a bit strange to see a cowboy with that kind of machine gun thought...Anyways I'm far from being a weapon expert.
I was feeling like doing cowboys lately too, maybe you've seen my latest animation...

If he really is a mass murder, make him look more evil! Perhaps on one eye blind (maybe marylin manson style, but don´t copy him :p ) , bloody scars, a really bad bad smile and so on.
I really like him so far! He holds the gun a little bit strange... Looks like a feather in his hands.
