View Full Version : Possible to blend the edges of 2 textures to hide seam?
jahulio2 11-25-2003, 06:01 PM Simple example. Say I have a cube. The top half of the cube is a grass texture, the bottom a rock texture. Is there anyway to blend where one texture ends and the other begins so that it looks like there is no seam?

There are a couple of ways I can think of, the hardest way is to apply alpha channels to your textures edges where they overlap. Like where the skin and hair meet on your head.
The easy way is to make them blend in P-shop and then make the objects share the texture.

Know of any tutorials explaining how to do it with alpha channels?

the easyest way i.m.o is with the 3d paint tool wich u can find in
rendering/texturing/3dpaint tool
u can then directly paint on your 3d model, then using the clone mode u can easely cover up the seams
when ur done u have to save the texture in the option box of the 3dpaint tool it then saves it to the folder 3dpaint not overwriting your original

If your specific case there you could also map a ramp onto the box or object, then map two different textures into two color channels on the ramp. You can then adjust how it blends them and where they meet.
