hello everyone, i am in the process of making a sci-fi shuttle like craft and the model is pretty much finished. I want to now incorporate fire as a blast from one or more of the thrusters i have. I am using 3ds max 2009 and am able to emulate this using the fire effect (default with max), but i must say looks aweful! The Gizmo also is sooo limited as far as changing the shape of the blast goes. Unfortunately I dont have Fume FX. Is there something better I can do without having fume FX? any tips would be very appreciated. I have attached an image of what I have so far so you get an idea of what I mean. also I notice the fire effect illuminates the craft but not the ground, and doesn't seem to effect the shadows at all... can this be fixed?

Thanks!

fumeFX is a bit overweight just for this imo.
