View Full Version : Can glow effect and refraction coexist under mentalray?

Hi

I heard that Maya glow effect doesn't work with refraction, however, I do need something glow inside a transparent object. Is there anyway I can achieve this effect under Mentalray?

Is there any MR shader which supports such effect?

glow is a lens effect that exists because of irregularities in the camera lens. it should only be applied as a post effect and will only originate from bright areas of the image. if you want the air around something to glow in a magical fashion you should probably create this in some other way. maybe with poly object with a bright shader with facing ratio cutout opacity map, or some kind of volumetric shenanigans like parti_volume or fluids, depending on what kind of look you are trying to achieve.
