pelos 11-23-2003, 11:44 PM is any way to use weight maps of lightwave insted mettaeffectors, in Messiah?

Short answer is no.
Long answer is that messiah's bone deformations are so good that only small corrections are needed here and there if any - hence the use of metaeffectors - only for touch ups.

That's one of the great things about messiah - you can experiment with how many bones you actually need to get the job done. Add a bone and test it out in Animate mode interactively. I think a combination of regular bones combined with muscle bones is ideal for more realistic character work.
grzesiekj is working on a nice face rig tutorial that you may or may have not seen - it gives you an idea of how many bones/muscle bones some artist work with:
