View Full Version : SEMTEX, a tribute to that one true underground artform
3D_Mike 06-12-2002, 03:15 PM Hi everybody,
Ehrm how does one start? Impressive is perhaps the best thing I can say about most of the artworks shown in this forum. Truely impressive. A wonderfull place of creative madness.
I figured I really should add some of my 3D-stuff as well. So I hope you enjoy these screens from the SEMTEX series: A tribute to that one true underground artform Graffiti. All images are made using 3DstudioMax and photshop.
Please tell me if the pics are too big, Ill put up smaller ones if anyone has any complaints. I hope you guys like m.

good stuff
you don't see too many people try to actually make graffitti in 3d. did you use an eps template?

Im glad to see someone in the 3d world recognize graf as an art form because it truely is. i spose one would have to do it the way u do as a quick fill in wouldnt look as appealing. cool stuff.:airguitar
I don't rate most grafitti as art but this is really cool! I'd never mind if someone sprayed a wall full of those. Now those annoying "tags" and "bombs" and whatever you call them all...shudder :annoyed:
I'm totally not into Grafitti...what is Semtex? I know it's an explosive substance but what significance does that have in the grafitti community? Of course...other than it being explosive artwork :D

:buttrock:
I love it! Keeps the feel of graffiti and brings it into the 3D realm really nicely. :buttrock:
I like the "two cans" pic the best too.
Personally, I'd rather see more graffiti on the sides of building as opposed to stupid beer ads (not to take away from the talents ad painters :) ) There's some great stuff out there, and when I see some great stuff whitewashed, I feel bad for the artist(s) whose work is gone. Then again, there's an all new white canvas to work with :)

Thanx people!
And no I dont use any template, Im one of those ol timer Graffiti peeps that believe Graffiti should sprout right out of the brain :P
Semtex doesnt mean anything really. I think it just sounds cool. I made a few T-shirts and caps with those prints on m a while back so its kind off like a private clothing brand. Semtex, explosive clothing for the hardcore B-boy.
Ill see if I can find sum more stuff on my system.
