View Full Version : vehicles: Unusual WW2 tanks
baddog 11-23-2003, 07:04 AM A couple of the less often modelled tanks of world war 2. Half a million polys each give or take a few thousand:

Nice detail! Incredible texturing! Yeah, can we see a wire, and also, how many polys is that?

Glad you all like them.
I will try to post an exact polycount and a wire of one of them tonight when I get home. references are mostly books and of course internet searches. for each model I wont start till I have at least a basic set of profile drawings (sometimes buying a model kit will provide one). texturing is courtesy of some careful uv'ing and a wacom tablet with photoshop.
Program is lightwave. There will eventually be 'realtime' lowpoly versions of these, and the high poly model will provide the base of the texture.

the matilda is 436955 polygons.
I tried but as you can imagine, a wire is just basically a solid mass of lines! I have an 'edge' render if thats of any interest?

Oh, yes, please post an edge render! You know, I`m not at all into tanks and other vehicle/military stuff, but nevertheless these models look great. No crits.
