Initial Concept/Render. Trying to get a feel for where I'm going with this. The basic concept storyline is: Alien BioOrganism Envelopes Ancient Deserted Machine Planet. Symbiosis Ensues. Much more to add here..Atmospherics, Lighting..more Model Detailing. Maybe a little Composition change. I will explain it more as I roll along through the next milestones. Hope you all like it. C&C are welcome.

cool sketch! I like how the ground is liquid looking and those structures... they look like a crystaline structure of some sort... I'll definitely be keeping an eye on your work.
oh and I'm diggin your color choices so far...

This is how the basic Terrain Models are used to create the effect used in the Concept Sketch/Render.
Plasma Conduits are the next model.
I think this is where they make those Alienware Machines I'll betcha'.

Texturing added to complete the effect for this model.
A Combo Alien/Metal Hybrid Look.
Still meets the requirements I hope.
More coming.

Looks good. Didn't know bryce is gettin' that usable now. So seems you have a tool wich makes u able to rock this challenge.
A few thoghts:
The yellow/black texture needs to get worked out, it looks too solid yet. Try to work with "Lighttbuilt" feeling there. or a transluscent shader that lets particles shine trough?
I like the filigrane/solid mix, it's cool.
Find a way to break up your gound and ceiling, mabye with holes that volumettic light breaks trough. and maybe some airbourne / flying/ lifting of elements to gain a feeling for the dimensions.
Be creative, grow over yourself and let imagination be the limit of your work... and keep your updates coming, nice work so far.
goodluck and be inspired, keep on rockin'!:buttrock:

This is very green. I think some more colors would help to seperate the foreground from the background. Right now it looks very flat.

1st Angel..Thanks for the helpful comments.
I'm figuring on breaking those planes up a bit..maybe a couple more models..some tentacles perhaps.
And some volumetric lights.
I also like your work. Keep on a rockin.
Shanesemler..Thanks..I'm still working on the color scheme a bit.
It is rather green I'd say. May work it out in post rendering.
I have a long Holiday to play with this.
Appreciate the help.

Hi Bill!
Long time not seen, good to se you're still on the track!
Looked at your update and have a few suggestions for you:
I still think the yellow of the plasmatubes would look cooler, if its transparent, and maybe placed some particles in them to show its plasma. It might be also be a solution to set the black to transparent and make another tube around the plasmalayer in a transparent glassy material.
To break up the planars (top and ground) could easy be done with a bolean opperand. An idea wich could look interesting is have some parts that break out of it (dual bolean, once the terain to create the hole copied and the and the same in the air, falling or drifting, that offer to cast volumeshadows into volumetric light that breaks in trough the holes...
It would help the scene, if you'd illuminated more pointed. dim the ambience, set highlights. Also, for posteffects, some fog would help, and haze to give a feeling for distance, and with less ambient light, the poseffects get more weight.
Hope this gives you an effort and motivation, your work looked very promissing from the beginning and I bet you can get out still very much!
Best luck for the final run! Keep on rockin'!

I really love this work, I just keep thinking it needs something, maybe something small to give it a sense of scale, maybe volumetric light fx etc even post fx could work. Not sure?? But definately excellent work. :applause:

Thanks riki and 1st _angel for the encouraging words.
I'm hoping to get some good effects in the post effect and composit stage.
Mostly mask rendering for the new sky and background.
Maybe some lightning effect also.
Been workin on it for a bit, so should be up soon. Real soon.
Got a lil' space ship to add for scale reference.
Hope that helps the scene some.

Here's the first Post Effects and Composite Image.
Still working out some other goodies to add here.
Maybe a bit too decayed looking, but I kinda like it. Helpful C&C welcome.

Hey Bill, the chrome looks really cool, bout the sky, need's a nailing point. some effect or more be "natural in other choice, to add athmosphere. The background is awesome, things come great together. the volumelights could use a falloff, and also be less sharp. if athmosphere takes too much time, render out a depth mask, (cam-z-axis) this will be usefull in many steps, either add manually DOF or Athmospherical effects.
Best luck on the last hours, keep onn rockin'!
Sad that you didn't finish. I like you cubic environment very much.
Best luck   :wavey:

This needs a story, so I'm posting it here.
If you got this far here it go.
Alienware Machine Planet - The Series...Chapter 6
In our last episode, Commander (insert your last name here) has landed on the third planet in the Donurin System. Remote monitoring stations have picked up very faint undicipherable signals from here. Commander (your last name) has been sent to explore and investigate.
As Commander (last name) steps out onto the surface, he is taken aback by the sight of huge towers looming in front of him/her. A very harsh sun/star creates a feeling of warmth which is welcome in the cold vastness of space.
The surface appears electrified, with occasional flashes of light both near and far. The signals picked up remotely seem to be very low in the distance. Everything appears to be automated.
The searchlights move in a random manor, as if no one is controling them. The planet seems abandoned, but lights flicker on and off inside the towers.
You are not quite sure if any one is watching, but you feel like someone/something is watching and calling you at the same time.
As Commander (last name..uh huh) moves closer, the inaudible signals become a bit louder, and sound more like a low whisper.
You wonder if it is an automated message, left by the previous/present inhabitants. The surface seems to move everytime their is a flash of lightning.
Its as if it reacts to the charge of current that shoots out on regular intervals. Commander (you know the drill) moves on to get a closer look at this wonderous place.
Now the sounds are getting a bit louder, but are still hard to pin down. You're not quite sure if you should proceed much farther.
But a mission is a mission, and you press on.
A few more steps, and suddenly, one of the searchlights swings and focuses on you. You are frozen in place as you are basked in a warm, calming swash of light.
At that moment, the whisper sounds you were hearing are suddenly loud and clear. Unable to move, the message is repeating itself...getting louder each time...like a hypnotic voice in your head, you are taken aback when the message keeps repeating...........BUY ALIENWARE.....BUY ALIENWARE......
Will our hero be subdued by the voices into buying???
Will he ever be able to leave this planet to do so???
Will he be dashed on the jagged rocks below????hehe
For the answers to these and many other questions...
Tune in next week for another exciting episode of...
ALIENWARRRRRE MACHINNNNE PLANETTTTT
...................................................................................
Best I got guys..Hope you liked it.
Thanks again for the great challenge
