very clean, I like it. Maybe just a little too clean. Don't really know how to improve it without destroying the mood though..

good work

Could you put up a 1600 x 1200 version? :D

Very nice scene. I don't know about it being too clean...since having more objects would kind of take away from the feeling of the vastness of space.

Anyway...good job :)

It's kinda difficult to really give any solid crits or make many comments about a piece like this because it's not like there are a lot of technical aspects to it, if you know what I mean.

And as a piece of art it's difficult to comment on because it's not expressing anything in particular :)

That said though, I think overall in terms of colour and look it's looking nice, although surely it would be a physical impossibility to have two planets so close to one another? I would imagine that their combined gravitational pull would probably destroy one another.

The planet surfaces look okay, but perhaps a little too procedural. I'm not sure if you've used images or procedurals, but at the moment the patterns are looking very random, and it's tricky to say whether I'm looking at a turbulent atmosphere or a strange terrain. If it's an atmosphere I'd say you need to make it look a little more gaseous, and if it's a terrain then you should try and add some specific details such as mountains and seas to it.

Perhaps it would also be a bit more interesting if the two planets were slightly different colours. If we look at our own solar system, the planets are all very different from one another... just try a slight variation. Possibly changing the sizes of the planets to be a little less similar would also improve the scene a bit, because right now they look very much like they are the same size :)

Composition wise, I'm not sure that it works as well as it could - when doing planetary scenes you should try and somehow convey the vastness of the size of the planet, and I don't get that idea from this image. These could be two moons, or two planets - there is no real idea of the gargantuan proportions that a planet should have. You've partially achieved a scale indication by having small details on the planet surfaces, but perhaps choosing a more dramatic camera angle could improve it :)

THanks guys, glad you like it, and i can post a 1600#1200 version a little later.

Also Leigh, two twin planets work much the same as Binary Stars, they are constantly falling into each other. because one is falling into the other, it is there for moving out of the way of the other, so they never meet.

i really like it, but i would keep the text off the image... its kinda disturbing....

maybey try to ad something not expecting to be there.... something mysterious to make this piece even better than it is and meybey a bit more storytelling than it is now...

great planets though...very nice

I was thinking the same thing as Leigh- the planets look too similar and the surface somehow doesnt seem quite right. Also, the starfield looks like it's be painted with an air gun (not airbrush, airgun like for painting buildings- if that's the correct term). I think you did a great job of setting the proper mood and with some tweaking it would find it way onto quit a many peoples desktop. Yes, I am using it for wallpaper now ;)
