at this morning i think that worst thing for this project is to guessing
the result of the artfork before finishing it,(ofcourse for self idea).
today we have best objects and instruments with trity subjects(ideas).

Hi All Dear Artists At The Alienware CG Challenge
I think that i must change some of my ideas about this work.
My new and clean idea is this:
A combination of the sky and earth with some sybols of the aliens life in it.
i think that Sometimes with a simple exchanging the place or form of some custom or traditional objects,
we could get amazing results.

i am going to combine the sky and the earth.it`s some difficalt but i have either the sky and the earth in my hands.

Hey looking great! I love the lighting/glow effect. You might try defining the upper left corner of the image just a bit more. Still keep the mysterious darkness, but maybe add a hint of obscured shape(s) to intrigue the viewer and balance the composition. Or not, if you like it the way it is. I can't believe how fast you put this together. Let's see some more!:applause:

Hi there,

Yes, pretty cool progress pics you have here.
About the last 2 of your images, I definitely would go without DOF, it just blurs all the detail you have there, and because your pic is so dark the blur just makes it a bit messy.

I really like the light effect on the right side. You said you will use some alien shapes on the left side, please do that and make the light from the right to light them up.

You work has a great feeling in it, very moody piece of art.

Your most recent image with the DOF looks awesome. You could have a really strong piece with that alone . Even if you didn't add anything else, you shouldn't worry. It is looking very moody and mysterious. I really like how it is turning out. :thumbsup:

To get some of the details back in the foreground maybe you could overlay the DOF image on the one without DOF and show the effect over the top half of the image only. This would give you the details in the foreground and the cool effect the DOF gives the background, without having to re-render anything.

Now let's see it with those aliens!:)

Just have read what you wrote in Sara's tread and hope I can give you a thought. Detail do Never make anything more or less professional. Make things look good in a simple way means to go the HARD WAY to find ESSENTIALS. And that's what really makes a masterpiece. To JUST do what is required to give ppl the feeling or an idea, a visual description of a dream or a vision, an emotion.
I love your Creation because it is VERY Essential and I just have 1 tiny little suggestion. dont set the amount of DOF too high, you overblur the fine and beautifull nuances. If you use it, use it with the same feeling you built up the rest of your beautifull work. Don't overshoot. Just finetune. Your work rocks and I love it big time cuz it makes your fantasy fly!!!

Hey saturen3. I should clarify my last post to you. I do like the DOF that you added a lot, but I agree with Pufferfish that you are losing too much detail with it. Maybe you could find some middle ground there...maybe still use DOF but tone it down a bit so you can still see the great texture details in the front. As for modeling detailed aliens: I think the greatest strength of your piece is the mysterious quality that it has. It hints that there is life there, but doesn't give away too much. I think that if you added detailed aliens, you would lose this wonderful engaging quality that the image has now. I think you really have a good idea here. The reasons that I like your DOF image are 1. The sky in that one is awesome, and 2. The upper left corner gains some "barely there" forms peeking through the fog. Keep doing just what you are doing. Detail doesn't make anything more or less professional. If it did, then Modrian and Le Corbusier would not be famous fixtures in the history of art and architecture. Cheer up! :thumbsup:

Dear swadwpgh:you are realy right and its better to bluring any special are in the photoshop.because it`s very manipulatable and doesn`t need any render.
About mysterious feeling you are right exactly and i like it.But now i have an idea that like to say you.I want to put a piece of sky on the ground.Idon`t know what will be the result.anyway i must check it.If i couldn`t complete it i will put this image (with some editing)as the final image.

wow.. you have captured a great mood with your lighting. I am not so sure I liked teh latest sky texture though... the blue/purple one was awesome... it almost looks like a worm hole passing though the sky... yet on the left in continues on into the bg.

the holes are good.... but just a thought. maybe do a lighting test where there are full on intense lights (orange maybe) in the holes... so then we wonder what is down there causing this.

Yeah... while I like the colours of 2 posts ago... the softness of the last post is great, although now we have lost detail (or even a rim) or the piled rocks on the left.

Nice image, actually if you take your image into a compositing application, You would be able to isolate your glows and fine tune them much easier,

Here the steps

1) - Go to AlienWare page for submiting the final image (http://www.cgnetworks.com/alienware/final_image.php) it's the same location where u submit the jpg, but instead of «submit entry» u should go to «submit final image».

2) Make the login

3) Search for your personal upload details:

FTP Host: ftp.cgnetworks.com.
FTP Username: challenge3
FTP Password: alienware
FTP Filename: ????_???.zip ( here u should have your personal number=your file name

4) Open the browser of the internet, instead «http://www....» u shoul write ftp.cgnetworks.com.

5) A window appears put the username and password

6) A windows frame appear with many works with the number of the various users .

7) Just copy your .zip work into the frame(FTP Filename: ????_???.zip)

8) and u ready for voting
