that looks wonderfull, could ya give us a few more angles and maybe a picture of your father to compare:thumbsup:
Joril
06-12-2002, 08:37 AM
You used a picture for the texture, that's why the eyes and lips look a little flat.
Looks like you forgot to texture his scalp.(teal colour visible between the hair)
Otherwise it looks pretty good.
Post a wireframe to let us see beyond the texture.

Very nice. Looks really good. Like the brow and under the eyes especially.
I agree it looks like you're projecting either your map or picture from the front though, if that's what's causing the ear streaks. If the side had its own map blended in, or you make a complete cylindrical, it should be stellar. I think on the hairline you just need to have a gradual bit of smaller hair blend up to there, even if it's a harsh hairline.
(edit) whoops, you posted reference as I was posting..great job! That model is him without a doubt.

thank u Joril .
Could u help me how to improve the texture?
FireHell
06-12-2002, 09:07 AM
I imported this model with IGS format into MAX.
But I dont know how to map better about ears.
I used V.A.M.P. replace the coordinate about ears in Deeppaint,
but when I return to MAX, I found tha map s disordered.
So I just use one cylindrical coordinate.

glad to see another 5stars image from us chinese.
i am proud of you mate!
excellent work!
the only thing need to be improved is the lighting IMO...as i know ,if you use a picture to texture a head, you must remove the highlight first.now his skin seems to be "floating" above the model ,due to the lighting... way too distracting.i think it may be caused by the original picture.
wow! 5stars !

You've inspired me to do the same with my pops. "Hey pops, can I draw on your face w/ a marker?" (I'll get started as soon as he stops laughin'). Good work. Only crit is the skin texture needs some more translucency, hard to do in Max tho (I havent figured it out).

yes. nurps.
I almost haven't any experience to take the picture.
Thank u give me those suggestions,
that s my frist time to take a picture with my friend's digital camera.
I hope I can buy an own digital camera when I save enough money, and rebuild it. :)
Thank u every much.

Amazing model. The textures are right on. As is the hair. Very real.
I don't see what's wrong with the ears. They seem fine.
crit:
You seem to have only modeled one side and mirrored it. You should model his right side as well. Right now it doesn't look like him.
Also in the photo his jaw seems more angular - stronger.
I know most people said he's 100% on ... but he's not

Looks great. 100% or 90% accurate, doesn't change the fact that it's really great work and once again shows how well Rhino works with other programs. Keep up the excellent work.
Firehell,
Love your father's artwork!
BTW, maybe you could scan in some of it and feature it with a render of the model :D

Just out of curiosity, how long did it take you to find all the curves over the photographs befor you had a successful loft?

What is really interesting me, the texture is from a photo, yes....tell me that it is not painted in PS or so...
If you really painted that skin in a painting software, then thats defenitively the best 'self-made' human-skin-texture I've ever seen...
But if photo or made in PS, your father can be very proud on his son...:applause:

looks spiffing. the only thing I'd mention about the ears isn't to do with the texturing but rather the shape in relation to the side view of your father. The ear on your model looks almost a little elfin-like at the top whereas your fathers is more rounded.
I guess we could all sit n nitpick all day but otherwise is spectacular and I imagine your dad is more than a little scared at the thought of his digital self mincing round the internet!
hey, you could setup ananovadad.com or something with your dad reporting the news! :-p

Incredible work, this is the first real thing I have seen modeled in Rhino...very impressive. The texturing is great also. A very lifelike render of your father.
It appears that you render looks slightly younger than the black and white image you provided for reference, but it still looks great.
