View Full Version : Set Driven Key Attributes fail with Vray (or mental ray)

Hey everyone,

Has anyone had the problem where if you 'set driven key' an attribute (such as the alpha gain of a layered texture shader to control which texture shows up) works in the viewport but it doesn't work when you render in Vray?

I also found a similar problem when using Mental Ray (exept in mental ray it shows up only during a batch render)
http://forums.cgsociety.org/archive/index.php/t-219695.html

Any other better solution than to bake the attribute down?

Thanks,
Wesley

How are you rendering out... via MayaBatch, or baking out .vrscene chunks and sending them to standalone?

I've noticed similar problems in the past, and at one point made certain I was exporting single frame chunks and made a pre-frame MEL script that did currentTime = $frame to work around it by updating the play head and forcing attr updates.

Haven't noticed the problem in a while, however.

Hey Trey,

Thank you for your response! I have been testing with "Render the Current Frame" with the Render View which already has the problem. I've also tested with Maya's 'Batch Render' and its also the same problem.

I haven't tried baking out .vrscene chunks (because I don't know how to, lol). Unfortunately, I'm an Animator by profession, so scripting isn't my forte.. but I'll look into that! =)
