I have a kitchen cabinet that I'm modeling, but I'm trying to be a little more organic in design and thus am lofting for the first time. I made an outline of the shape for the cabinet with the Spline-line tool, using smoothing initial and drag types, so there's like 260 vertices. Then I created four spline-lines, each straight, measuring 8',9',10',& 12'. Everything was done in the top viewport (plan view). I selected the outline, and lofted it to the first path (8'), but no matter what I do, when I hit on get path to select a 2nd shape, it converts the entire loft to that shape. I've tried messing with the settings, but the help files are rather ambigious, and Ted Boardman's lofting 2 (from cgarchitect.com) tutorial doesn't seem to help me, though it seems perfect for the job. Am I missing something about lofting?

HELP!!

Well, the thing with lofts is there's just one path. You can change shapes as you go, but you can only have one path.

In your example, it looks like the curve is the path, and the lines are the shapes. Correct? Once you create the loft with one path and one shape, you can insert more shapes and adjust where each lies on the path.

Did you read through the help file?

the strange thing is, since I didn't bring the actual file with me to work, I couldn't try it, but I quickly made a circle, lofted it along a number of shapes, and using the multiple steps, it worked fine. Mabye in my cabinet outline (spline), there's something screwy going on? None the less, I'll try it as soon as I get home, and I can always redo the outline...thanks again for the quick response  ...updates coming soon (I hope)

You'l need the techsmith codec to play it. Recommanded minimum reolution is 1280x960.
You can also try to save it first on your HD by right clicking the file.
File is about 5mb.
