View Full Version : concept: character color comp
Titan 11-21-2003, 07:01 AM This is a color comp for a personal portfolio character I am developing... I am hoping to do a few comic style pages with her and maybe a 3d model...I'm not really that great with coloring, but I am learning alot and improving, ever slowly.
medium:sketched on 8.5x11 typing paper, scanned, colored in photoshop with a wacom.
comments apreciated. thanks for looking.

I think you could add some highlights on the legs. just a simple line. and on the metal parts, you dont have dark enough shadows.
you could also work that out.
other than that, maybe the legs are a bit too log, but still looks pretty sweat! cheers

thanks for all the replys..I appreciate the help.
the above version is a little older, but I blended the highlight effects a little just to see what it would do..I like it.
I'm still working out the concept, and trying to come up with a story line for her. So far the basic premise is that she is a futuristic Mission Impossible type agent....mixed with a Ninja ...lol
corny I know, but If I do pages with her it will keep me interested allowing me to draw a multitude of settings and aliens, technology etc...
below is an an updated design sketch still WIP, I changed the design somewhat in this next sketch and may not color this one..

You have pretty nice coloringtechnique I must say.. The thing I see is that you need more highlights and deeper shadows in some places. The anatomy is very nice, though the upper part of her body is just slightly short. When coloring, never be afraid of dramatic shading/highlighting or contrast. Those often make the whole picture :)
On the new sketch the nose and the mout doesn't follow the line of the face... The eyes and the rest of the face is slightly turned but the nose and the mouth looks like you see them from in front of her. And her right calf is a bit low.
Otherwise they're both very nice! :D

thank you for the comments..
I am still working on the sketch, as in still drawing it, admittedly the face is weak...I think the eyes are too large and your right the features are at the wrong angle..i 'll post an update as soon as I can..and I couldnt resist..i started coloring the new sketch too....lol...thanks for the advice
