troja 11-20-2003, 01:54 PM hi folks
i made a drone for an animation of mine and a friend, and I want to ask for some final crits, before I declare this one as the final, which will be part of the animation

this one was done with cinema 4d. the concept can be found on www.conceptart.org (nathan campbell)
some critics about the materials please, the model itself is mostly finished (quite lowpoly because of the animation 0_o)

Well, looks good. Not spectacular, but very solid. Don't lose time with critics yet, hop into the animation while you're still motivated!

there is one little problem with the "hopping into the animation" ^^
thats One of the three models... the second one is also finished... more or less :-P but the third is.. hum.. well I will post it for some crits...
and the environment mostly doesnt exist yet... :-/

The model itself looks good. You need better textures that look more realistic, more metalic. Make it bright read like the original concept art too. It needs better lightning as well. But the model is very good:)

you mean the places, where the red paint is scratched away? ok, but could you give me a hint, how to make it more metallic without looking like it comes straight out of production?

As far as making it look more metalic, the color is too uniform. Worn metal is lighter and shinier on it's corner and darker with more oxidation and grime on large flat areas. Also, those guns and gunpods are in serious need of distress. And I agree with Phil that a brighter red would look better, but it depends on the feel you're aiming for in final.
You might also want to add a spec and bump map to this. A bump map especially would work wonders.
