So I am in the neighborhood of getting a new PC for Digital Media/Game Design/Gaming. The only thing I am not sure about is which processor to use. As the title suggests, I am deciding between a AMD fx-8150 8 core 3.6 GHZ VS. Intel I7-2600 quad core (turbo boost up to 3.8 GHZ).

Got any opinion either way?

Thanks

For my money I would look at the socket 2011 and the 3820 chip because it is about the same price as the 2600 but because it is socket 2011 it would give you access down the road to significantly faster chips than either the socket 1155 or AM3+.

the 3820

another faster socket 2011 chip, the 3930K

on the AMD side I'm of the opinion that if you are not going to do a quad socket G34 motherboard with say, for instance, a set of Opteron 6272 then just avoid AMD. There may be some low budget that you might consider AMD but even then you have the i3 and so its just hard for me to get excited about.
