View Full Version : Maya lights
sdhollman 06-11-2002, 05:58 PM I am having a hell of a time trying to take the specular off of my spotlight in Maya 3.5.1. I know how to do this in Max but have no clue how to do this in Maya.
Please help.
Thanks
Steven

in the Attribute Editor of the Light are three little checkboxes right under the light intensity value. uncheck the "Emit Specular"

acctually i think it's only maya 4 that features the possibility to turn off diffuse and/or specularity in the attribute editor.
i think pixho (http://www.3dluvr.com/pixho/) (check under tips) solved this with a layered shader approach (but since i'm to lazy to read i'm really not sure if that was what you wanted).
i also remember this question poped up in the old 3drender forum when that still existed, can't remember if they had any solution to it though. maybe you wanna swing by 3d-discussion (http://www.3d-discussion.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi) (since it's more or less same as 3drender with new name) and ask the same question if you don't find any solution here.
