It might just be the scan, but try to deepen your shadows. You haven't done much with lighting and you don't have any really dark areas in the piece.

Nice job on the face though (aside from that eye :-) ...). IMO the 3/4 view is the hardest angle to pick for a portrait.

for an instant idea of what pyraxis is saying just open this in photshop and under image-adjustments choose auto levels and auto contrast and BAM! you'll see how much bolder it can stand out.
