I was reading the Mudbox documentation and confronted with the part about Environment Variables(Specific problem of mine dealt with Smooth UV), How must I define an environment variable for Mudbox?

have you tried to enable the smooth uv in the subD optionbox...
are you sure you need the uv borders smooth..?
