View Full Version : Wiring
GodfatherUr 11-19-2003, 10:17 AM Hello all
First let me thank you for taking the time to look at my question, so without further adue... her she be.
I am wiring a dummy to control 2 other dummy objects. I currently have the controller dummy controlling the other 2 dummies z rotation. My question is how can I alter the wiring expression so that the dummies being controlled will rotate along their local z axis rather than their view axis?
Thanks once again,

firstly it is not moving along the view axis, it is moving along the world axis, that is how wiring works. is there a limit to the amount that you are having them move?, even attach a simple version on the file and i will have a look for you.

Here's a tip using expresion instead of wiring:
1. Create 2 dummies in top view and place them on top of each others
2. Select Dummy02 (the upper) and assign Float Expression to its x-rotation channel.
3. Open the controller's properties and create a Scalar variable "xrot".
4. The click assign to controller and select Dummy01>transform>rotation>x-rotation and click OK.
5. On Expression field type "xrot" and click close
Now when you rotate the Dummy01 along its x-axis, Dummy02 will rotate also in its own local axis.
To get spine-like rotation, parent the Dummy02 to Dummy01. Now when you rotate Dummy01, Dummy02 will rotate along its local axis as well as along Dummy01's axis.

whitehorse: There is a limit to the amount of rotation I woud like them to do. I will be attaching a file to this later tonight(no way to attach a file here from work. will do so when I get home tonight.)
ssalo: Thanks for the method. Going to give that a try now
Thank you all once again

since you are using a limit then i would look at using ractor floats,
show more once i get the file
