Hi, I just finished my demo reel, edited with AfterEffects... rendered at 520x390 with sound and about 3:30 minutes long, encoded by DivX... but the resulting clip is 196 mB large!!! Can someone please help me on how to trim it down??? Thanks!!!

First post :D

Well first of all you should render out your movies UNCOMPRESSED anytime possible (unless you just need a quick preview...).

Then take that file into VirtualDub and do a 2 pass encode with DivX or XviD.
With a 2 pass encode you can define the filesize you want and if you dont set a too small filesize it will look *almost as good as your original*.

There is one more thing you can do to decrease file size - take out the audio (probably wav) and convert it to a mp3 (dont do vbr - it works but its not recommended afaik).

You can get virtualdub from:
www.virtualdub.org

XviD from http://www.roeder.goe.net/~koepi/xvid.shtml
Just set its fourcc under Advanced Options to DX50 and everyone who has the popular divx5 codec installed should be able to play it fine without having to install another codec.

You can a mp3-encoder from here:
