This is an image i did for the 3d4all.org contest, and it also is going to be a Short Movie, that i´ll be working for in the next year. For now i plan to release it in December 2004, but time will tell. There will be a clay look in it, so fell free to reply with critics and comments, I´ll be pleased to have some feedback from you guys.

This is awesome! I really like the fact that you are going for a clay look - it really suits it :) I'm sure it will look great when you start animating it.

I think it's really funny that this poor guy has not one but two hooks!! How does he dress himself? :p

Your style reminds me a lot of Lucasarts Monkey Island games - which is a style I really love!

I think this piece is fantastic - I'm putting it on the front page. Hope you get some good exposure for your film :D

I agree. This is somewhat of a Monkey Islandian work, although I think the clay nature of it makes it truly stand out. Nice job on the character.

I think the environment really stands out--looks really warm and friendly, with the volumetric lights shining down and all.

And yeah, that point about having 2 hooks has me confused too... how DOES he get around?

Antropus

very good. A little ... too toy-like for me but well that's just me :p good work overall.

Monkey Island rocked, though I only played the first 2. CG was not what monkey island was about right, the voices were the strength and the extreme hilarious humour :D good ol' days.

Wow lots of feed back, thanx Leigh!!!!:bounce:

Thanx everybody fro the comments and critics, thank you ville and Antropus, know that your work is inspiring for me my friend.

well people are talking 'bout the two hooks, well just think about the hilarious things that coud happen in a short movie to this guy, just 'couse he doesn't have a hand! And Yes, Monkey Island is my favorite adventure game, i love the art work of that game and its one of my references in the cartoon stile, and the main inspiration for this image. Now I'm gonna move to the outside of the ship!

Once again thanx everyone

I like the clay look. It really comes across well. The lighting fits the environment nicely. But I did have a question about his right eyebrow. Did you intend for the eyepatch to go under his eyebrow? Just wondering. It's a solid piece. Nice work

The arms look very thin, but then again, that might be what you wanted..In the first picture it's kinda hard to see the mans facial expression..

This is an outstanding piece of work, the colors and compositions are great! Keep it up:)

Looks great!

One crit:

Its going to be kinda hard to get much expression out of his face when you cant see it. First thing I thought when I saw the image was, "Where's this guys face?" It was really hard to read. The parrot stood out really well, but I had to look at the second image before I understood what was going on.

Hi guys, tank you all for the great feedback.
Mr.Solo and Blackbean , nice to see you guys here. thanx 4 the comments!

Agreenster, well this guy is going to talk from his mustache, the lipsync will be done in most part from his mustache. since it is a clay style guy, his emotions will not be as great as Wasawsky (damn they animated him damn good!!!), but he is still going to have lots of emotions, his eyes could no deform too much, but his eyebrows will move a lot... and a lot of body expression, strong poses and strong line actions! wich me luck heheheh!

so in the film, will the pirate divulge how he lost his two hands?

does he have a chip on his shoulder like Captain Hook has?

I would imagine him being a happy guy with all that "booty" from the chest! :scream:

Pretty good. It is a bit too colorful for my taste, and those barrels look way too clayey. The volume lighting looks good.

Care to expand a little on the clay texture look?

Great character! Good luck with him!
