Hey Guys and Gals,

Im hoping someone can shed some light on a question I have. Im working on some new content to be performed in a live performance environment. Ive found this image and like the way the masks are intertwined and complex.

I assume some of this will of be done in PS and Il. Is it possible to create something like this in AE?

Ive been trying but failing.
Thanks

Sure. Merely a matter of stacking multiple copies of the same layer and using mask modes, Alpha/ Luma Matte modes and things like Stencil Alpha/ Silhouette Alpha. No magic required. More than anything else, this is really just a matter of thinking your way through and structuring the project accordingly.

Brilliant, I'll get about making it. I've been trying to think methodically about it... must try harder :)

I see a lot of what appears to be the same triangle. You could create a template triangle to use as a track matte for several other textures and layer them. Just a thought to hopefully save u some work.

Thanks for the tip Cosmic, I haven't started this yet as gathering a little more material but all help welcome. Thanks :)

If you use masks there is an intersect mode which can be useful for blending the intersecting parts of different masks just like in the image.
