hello everyone,

I finished my latest character. It was done in Maya and painted in Photoshop. Spartan is a robot built by an old toymaker to be a companion/friend to his little daughter. When she is kidnapped, he is sent to rescue her from the enemy's fortress.

btw, the extra 'combat arms' are components he's pulled off of defeated robots and attached to himself. i had this idea of him cradling/protecting the child in his smaller arms while the big ones fight off enemies.

very nice model! i love the idea of him holding the girl and fighting at the same time.. it appeals to my mushy side ;)

one comment though.. i think the concept sketch is much stronger, and the only reason i can come up with for this is that the texture on the concept is much more believable.. the one in 3d seems much too saturated, using colors you rarely see in real life. i think if you lowered the colors down, even tried matching the colors from the concept it would add so much more to the piece. :)
