Hi guys i posted this mesage on the genarl discussion and then somebody told me about this compositing forum so here it is again, i'm experimenting with composition with After effects (Tiff with alpha channel and Background) and i want to change the edge of my top image to be softer since it's too "edgy" does anybody know how? if there's anyway to blur just the alpha channel? or anything that might work with my edge?? I'm thinking of doing some animation so it won't aply to just one image but a sequence of images...
In advance thanks!

Normally you can do that with an edge detect operation. i use shake so i'll explain how it works there. the prinzip is the same in after effects.
apply an edge detect on you foreground. now you have just the edges of it. apply a blur again to the foreground and use the edge detect operation as your mask. you can now set the blur to whatever you want, you'll always only change the edges. when you now look at you comp it should be much smoother in the edges.

hope that helps
