Its impossible to be not inspired by Matrix.
So here's my contribution - a maxscript that creates Matrix scrolling code in 3D....

Download the script+some fonts (Right click save as)
Matrix3d Script (http://www.geocities.com/san_2012/Matrix3D.zip)
OR Alternate link (http://www.piczonline.com/client/reverie2012/Matrix3D.jpg) (Change extension to .zip)

Small movie ~ 4 Mb (Right click save as)
Matrix3D Movie (http://us.share.geocities.com/san_2012/Matrix3DAnim.zip)

Original movie is BIG ~ 18 Mb, but I dont have web space to upload. The effect in fullscreen was pretty good, but unfortunately cant upload it to show you.
Btw this is my first script !! :)

Some shots (Post processed in Photoshop)...
Feel free to use/edit the script and show me the results....:wip:

It says this site exceeded it's max bandwidth.

Darn, I wanted to see this. Oh well.

It's a shame your script isn't mel, cuz I would like to try it. :p

The scripting there is truly commendable, congrats on that. I have to crit though - the letters are rotated. On the monitors and generally all of the code shots in the movie the letters are just regular downwards scrolling, no rotation or anything like that.

Still, ver' ver' nice

Thx you liked it ...
Its not meant to be an exact copy..just a 3D eye candy for the fans ;)

TDA_3d,
thats correct, the letters looked flat from side, so i gave a bit of random y-rotation, to give it more variety.
you can just zero them in script if you want....or I'll add 3 more spinners for rotation in next version.

actually I wanted to animate rotation - glyphs rotating and dropping down, and columns shifting positions....

I've plans to add lights dropping along the trace, so that it glows better..
you can have color gradiants, objects instead of text, backgrounds, neon material etc etc ... only limited by your imagination !

tenl,
sent you a pm..thx a lot

Very nice. I think it would be great with the real symbols.

And there is only ONE true Matrix Code screensaver, this one! (http://www.angelfire.com/ultra/matrixscreensaver/)
