CGTalk - silent dvd rom

i'm looking for an almost silent dvd rom drive. i don't like the ones with loud drive bays but you can get really quiet drive bays. can you help?

i have a budget of $50 / £30

just buy a normal CDRom/DVDrom drive and make it spin slower

(use something like this (http://cdromtool.sourceforge.net/))

no, i don't have a dvd rom drive right now. i don't want to add unneccessary patches. i did hae a really quiet cd rom drive that made almost no sound and was really cheap. i am now going to buy a dvd rom drive and wanted to buy the quietest drive possible.

any ideas on which i should get?

I recommend Toshiba DVD drives, I experienced low noise with them. SD-M1712 for example.
