The paving stones simply lie in the ground as if they were magically put there. There should a be a distrubance in the soil where the stones meet the ground. The same goes for aginst the buildings. Even concrete is a little funky around the edges with usually at least some kinda ridge. Dirt is much much more malleable than stone. So there should be more effect on the surface.

ok i think i would make more cracking/cracks on the walkways and more wear and tear where people walk in the middle parts...edges to sharp also at moment.
the top of the arch way is to square...and the shadow to defined compared to rest of scene.
at the moment the ground texture looks to much like the wall texture only lighter.
backet texture looks strange but can't work out why...think maybe it need direction rotation 90 degrees to horizontal flow rather than vertical.
all this said...i think you're right it could be a good scene with a few tweaks to it...what lighting setup have you got at moment?
what is it youre trying to convey with the scene...
hot day spanish time
dark oppressive corridors
mexican theme...
at moment its hard to define...need to think about how you can clear this up...of course if this is what you want to do.
keep plugging away at it and it will come good...i don't want this post to sound overly critical cos its not mean't to be in anyway...the things i mention are only little things which as always imho i think would improve the image...hope this helps and good luck with it.
